Racehorse Training

This is the main focus of our business and we train thoroughbred horses of varying ages to race in New Zealand.

We prepare a number of horses for the Hong Kong racing scene. We generally take these horses through to trail level and once they have won a trial or won a qualifying race they are transferred to some of the stables of the leading trainers in Hong Kong.

We also train for a number of breeders who are focused on targeting Group and Listed races to enhance pedigrees but the majority of our horses are owned by individuals or small groups of people who just want to have some fun.

We train horses of varying ages and who race over varying distances. When approached by a prospective client we encourage them to meet up with us and have a look around the property to ensure that we are all compatible. It’s essential that the owner and the trainer can communicate comfortably together. It’s essential that they both understand each other expectations otherwise the partnership just won’t work.

Sourcing racehorses for clients

Depending upon our clients requirements we can source horses from a variety of options which include public auctions and private sales. Specialising in Yearlings and 2 Year Olds Lance can be found at all the main sales.

We use Marks Ewen and Associates who carry out all the pre-entry Veterinary work for Hong Kong to vet our potential selections and we always read X-rays when they are provided. Our client base includes several Bloodstock Agents, Stud Masters and Breeders giving us various options to source potential racehorses.

Facilitating the sale of racehorses

We often mediate between Bloodstock Agents and clients who have the opportunity to sell a talented youngster we find that it reassures our clients. We have excellent relationships with a number of Bloodstock Agents across New Zealand who are always on the look out for the next champion.

As a rule we do not prepare horses for public auction.
